Biography

MaryLou Driedger is an English Literature and Journalism teacher at an international school in Hong Kong. She has been writing a weekly column called Viewpoint for a regional Canadian newspaper, The Carillon for the last twenty-three years. She worked as a regular columnist on the Faith Page of The Winnipeg Free Press, a large provincial daily, for three years before moving to Hong Kong.

        MaryLou has been a regular contributor to the Rejoice Devotional series for the last fifteen years published by Faith and Life Press. She worked for that same publisher for nine years as a writer of religious education curriculums. She has also written the lyrics and script for a church musical called The Daughters of Z.

      MaryLou's free lance articles have appeared in dozens of religious, educational and life style publications. Since moving to Asia in 2003 she has specialized in travel writing and photography and her work appears on numerous travel websites. She also has a weekly blog about her travels in Asia and Europe.

         MaryLou has written histories for individuals, institutions and organizations. She has also served as a speaker at many workshops, retreats, banquets and special events. 

          MaryLou is married to Dave, a high school history and physical education teacher. She has two adult sons Joel and David Paul and a daughter-in-law Karen. MaryLou is an active member of the Hong Kong Women in Publishing organization and her photographs and writing appear in their annual anthology.
